The Prosperity 8 (P8) is the only Hardware Class space cruiser currently in service. Her sister ship Excellence 4 (E4) was decommissioned after a tragic miscalculation sent her headlong into a plasmic acetone cloud, playing havoc with her largely PVC superstructure and melting all but one of her crew. Funding for three incomplete Hardware Class cruisers was pulled after the E4 accident, leaving P8 a fleet of one, and unusually well situated for spare parts.

P8 gives new meaning to the term "cobbled together". More than a few major modifications have been implemented while on assignment, not the least of which is the ship's unique Bulb Drive warp engine.
