The Ng Institute for Micro Astro Science (NIMAS) was founded by Professor Edvard Ng shortly after the gestaltquake following his discovery of the attic space portal. Ng's vision of a central research laboratory and hyper-think omni-tank for toys in space has largely been realized at the Institute's domed headquarters, located on the desolate moon of Gecko.

The Institute, sometimes called the Ng Dome, is a patchwork city under glass featuring a vast labyrinth of research facilities covering a wide spectrum of critical subjects. The Ng Dome is also the private residence of Professor Ng and his family, who often host interstellar emissaries in the lavish Diplomat Tower.

The facility features an Astro-Park, Conference Bungalow, Bio-Containment Wing, Experimental Spacecraft "Chop Shop" Laboratory, and other state of the art technological wonders. The grounds and its protective dome are maintained by a crew of 'bots built for that purpose by Professor Algernon Haley.
