Tycho McDuff was a Chief Technical Sergeant for the ASA and served with distinction in that capacity for many years. He was decorated 12 times for one thing or another, and likes to tell the stories behind each one, so ask him sometime.

The same week that T19 was placed on inactive reserve, McDuff retired from the ASA and took over as the ship's first freelance Switchmaster, a title he created for himself. His roll on the ship might best be understood by McDuff's own description of his duties; "I'm the Scottie."

For all of his excellence in the engine room, Bubba is universally uninterested in almost every other meaningful facet of existence. If it isn't about warp engines, he starts to nod off.
